The name of a New Zealand man accused of tearing out women's teeth with pliers has finally been revealed.
Philip Lyle Hansen, 55, appeared in Wellington District Court on Friday, where an application for his name to remain anonymous until his trial begins next year was denied.
Hansen faces 11 charges, including rape, extracting teeth and the sexual assault of multiple women.
He has denied using pliers to pull out a total of a dozen teeth from three separate victims during sexual intercourse on different occasions.
Since his arrest in December 2012, Hansen’s lawyer did not want his client’s name to be made public in order to avoid tarnishing the reputation of Hansen’s house-painting business.
Hansen’s trial for these horrific allegations is set for April 2015.
